Darmadodey Foundation is a registered religious organization in Bhutan founded by Venerable Trulku Ngawang Jigme Namgyal, the 11th reincarnation of Gyelsay Darmadodey (then son of Marpa Lotsawa the Great Translator). Ven. Trulku is also known among his followers as Dorjitse Trulku. The Foundation is formed as a not-for-profit organization with the sole intention to uphold, promote and preserve Buddha’s teachings for all times to come. The Foundation currently intends to start – first by successfully imparting Buddhist monastic teachings and practices to as many underprivileged children in Bhutan who are (and all those who will be in future) enrolled at Dorjitse Monastery in Bumthang district. The Foundation ultimately hopes to develop the Dorjitse Monastery into a vibrant Dharma Center where anyone seeking spiritual guidance will be welcomed to visit and practice Dharma for the benefit of sentient beings all over the world.

Become a Member

We welcome anybody to be a member of our Foundation and contribute towards our common goal of helping other sentient beings and spreading teachings of Lord Buddha.

Sponsor a Student

Currently, our biggest challenge is sustaining our monks’ education at the monastery. You can sponsor a monk or any number of monk students for any preferred period of time.

Donate Funds

You may also choose to contribute to the good cause if you would like to donate. Your donation will directly benefit their learning at the monastery and young monks.

We want to Develop Dorjitse Monastery and establish Dharma Center

Dorjitse Monastery Project

Dorjitse Monastery which is located just North of Phromphong village (Tang Gewog / block)  under Bumthang district in Central Bhutan has its rich historical roots directly linked with Gyalsey Darmadodey, the son of Marpa Lotsawa the Great Translator (1012 -1097).

The Dorjitse Monastery Project is initiated by Ven. Trulku Ngawang Jigme Namgyal to benefit – first and foremost, the underprivileged children in Bhutan to enroll as novice monks and obtain completely free monastic trainings and initiations for spreading and upholding Buddha’s teachings to places near and far. The project hopes to give a relaxed and secluded environment which will gradually bloom into a vibrant community where as many committed Buddhist practitioners as possible reside and practice Dharma to achieve the highest levels of spiritual attainments

Become A Volunteer for Darma

The Foundation’s second objective is to contribute towards promoting and preserving Lord Buddha’s teachings now and for all times to come. We believe that in order for all living and sentient beings to live peacefully and in harmony, be it in any society, believing in one’s established religion and its beliefs is of paramount importance. Therefore, in case of our society where the teachings of Lord Buddha and Guru Padmasambhava has been taught, practiced and preserved for many centuries, it is our role to preserve further this Dharma practice in these spiritually degenerating times.

Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle. Happiness never decreases by being shared.
